 KUCI :: FM & Pietrobot
|
 Described by Fateless Flows as "One of the most revealing programs on the air for modern, underground electronic music. One D::N episode is like a brief education on the whole current genre, and each show usually involves a *LIVE* performance from one of these master programmers." (2004)

:: IN THE BEGINNING ::
 |

   CJAM :: Pietrobot & FM
|
Digital::Nimbus has broadcasted on KUCI since early 2002. Originally inspired by Audio::Nimbus (Pietrobot's radio show broadcasting at CJAM 91.5 FM (1998 - 2001) from the University of Windsor Campus, Ontario Canada), Pietrobot joined forces with the Digital Chemist late 2001 and eventually planted the seeds for what was to become Digital::Nimbus.
 Special thanks to Meat Beat Manifesto (Jack Dangers) for subliminally connecting us in the mid-90s. "In the beginning there was Jack, and Jack had a groove, and from this groove came the groove of all grooves"... Digital::Nimbus would not be here today, without MBM.

| |
Also thanks to Dennis Simms (Riders of the Plastic Groove, Friday's 8-10pm) for being such a good friend and for engineering our *LIVE* guest performances each and every time. Dennis' extensive history in sound-engineering has been an incredible help for us and we thank him for his loyalty and dedication to the show.

 :: KUCI'S PHILOSOPHY AND MISSION ::

KUCI essentially started as a pirate radio station, because even back then, there were people sick of commercial radio. There are currently no independently owned commercial radio stations in the greater Los Angeles area. This is the reason that if you call up a commercial station and request a song, you won't hear it if it's not the flavor of the week. Public affairs shows are not immune to this, either. There are almost no people who are willing to express a non-politically correct opinion, because they are deathly afraid of losing sponsorship. KUCI is the last bastion against crappy, sound-alike radio in Orange County. KUCI is the voice of freedom for all the independent music that gets snubbed by the major labels. KUCI are the defenders of the faith for those who choose to express a different opinion. KUCI is Corporate Rock's worst nightmare. KUCI is the middle finger in the eye of every 3-piece-suit wearing corporate talk-radio puppet! KUCI is e.) none of the above.
|
 :: KUCI PROGRAMMING POLICIES ::

NO MAINSTREAM MUSIC. KUCI will not tolerate playing mainstream music. KUCI are pioneers and once the world discovers what they've been up to all along, we move on to the next band that needs to be heard. KUCI's talk shows examine subjects mainstream radio won't. The hosts dig deep into subjects that are interesting but somehow not "interesting" enough to warrant being on a mainstream station. KUCI encourages expression of all kinds and it shows in its diverse talk programming.
